About 3x3 World Tour

The FIBA 3x3 World Tour is the pinnacle event of an 'open' network of FIBA endorsed tournaments, for which any group of four players - regardless of their nationality - could potentially qualify by registering a team and taking part in a lower level or regional tournament, eventually making their way to one of the five world Masters, and why not to the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Final.

The FIBA 3x3 World Tour was launched in 2012 and currently consists of five Masters tournaments as well as the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Final.

The 2012 edition of the FIBA 3x3 World Tour is played according to the following schedule:

Sao Paulo Masters, Brazil: 14-15 July (1 team qualifies for Miami)
Vladivostok Masters, Russia: 21-22 July (2 teams qualify for Miami)
New York Masters, USA: 18-19 August (4 teams qualify for Miami)
Istanbul Masters, Turkey: 1-2 September (2 teams qualify for Miami)
Madrid Masters, Spain: 8-9 September (2 teams qualify for Miami)

Miami Final, USA, 22-23 September (12 teams, 11 from the WT masters and 1 wildcard)

Teams qualify for the 3x3 World Tour from a worldwide network of 70 World Tour Qualifiers.

The standard format for each 3x3 World Tour stop sees 15 teams divided into 3 groups of 5 teams playing in a round-robin first round against their four respective group opponents. The top two placed teams of each group access directly to the bracket phase (starting at the Quarter-Finals stage) as well as the two best teams placed third, among all three groups.

As for the 3x3 World Tour Final, it will see 12 teams divided into two groups of six, playing in a round-robin first round against their five respective group opponents. The top four teams from each group qualify for the Quarter-Final stage of a standard knock-out tournament.

The World Tour events will also extend beyond the games of the tournament proper, seeing the participating players take part in individual skills challenges, welcoming top street artists and DJs, while - in keeping with FIBA's 3x3 For Everyone philosophy - spectators and basketball fans and passers-by will be able to take part in so-called mass participation 3x3 games and tournaments.
